My publicist met with me yesterday and mentioned a current event that I was not aware of. Since I don’t watch TV I was not aware that October is Anti-Bullying Month nor did I know that a news woman, Jennifer Livingston was contacted by a non-viewer about her overweight condition and suggested she was being a bad role model by being overweight in the public eye. This goes back to a post I made several days ago … “Overweight people are not stupid, lazy or hate themselves.”… They know they are overweight. They live it every day and they FEEL and often live with the judgment. There is far more to us than is physically obvious. We never know what someone is going through and pointing at something obvious in others speaks louder about what we are not saying or attempting to hide about ourselves. It is all about learning to prioritize, healthy lifestyle education and having someone to guide them through the process who is compassionate and loving.
We each have addictions (bullying is one). Some addictions are more obvious than others and more socially acceptable. Yes, obesity is a problem in the USA, and yes it contributes to the medical/insurance costs but obesity is not the biggest cause of this economic condition. There is far more going on than most people realize. Educate yourself; become aware that what is obvious is not the first solution, and then take personal responsibility for yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i-fuQLcXl0
I would love it if all Americans (including myself) were healthier but it won’t happen over night and we cannot use the same system (fear, scarcity, manipulation, humiliation, intimidation) to change it that we did to create it. The people who do change the world (and it will happen) will be teaching people what they don’t know about BEing healthier and guiding through it with LOVE and KINDNESS. And there is no better people to teach it than those who have actually EXPERIENCED it.
