We had an adventurous day yesterday with multiple opportunities to practice emotional intelligence and personally experience just how AMAZING people can be!
We went out in the afternoon for a little stroll through a local craft fair. On the spur of the moment we decided to do what was supposed to be a short 4×4 off-road excursion in Mike’s fairly new (but used) pickup. Just as we were about to head home after enjoying a couple hours of fresh air and gorgeous scenery, uhho… flat tire and we discovered our spare was flat too. I did not have my iPhone with me but Mike had his so we had no one to call but AAA. AAA was not much help since we were not on a paved road although they did attempt to hook us up with a tow service who told us they would not come off-road. They referred us to another company but he was unable to get there for another 1-1/2 hours.
The AMAZING part … We had approximately two dozen people stop to see if they could help, gave us water, encouragement, advice/ideas, ride offers. One beautiful soul had a portable air compressor. Just about the time his portable air compressor finished it’s job the tow truck arrived. It was almost sunset. Beautiful. The Lesson … God sends the right people to us when we need it. Be patient, notice and enjoy the process. Appreciate the ‘what is’ even when things don’t seem to be moving our way; it all happens for a reason. Notice and appreciate what/who comes your way; they each are a teacher. Trust it will all be okay. Also, intellectually … be better prepared when off-road even if it’s just a quick spontaneous trip. 🙂
